The-Rehumanisation-Station
This podcast underpins my Flippin' and Vibin' brand to flip the script on traditional or normative narratives creating inequity to the self, society, sport, education, the arts & culture, as with many other disciplines. My podcast covers two strands of groups who look to flip the script in their career, research, activism and sport through (i) hearing the voices and stories of academics, educators, community activists, students, organizational heads etc., while on the other hand covering (ii) people involved within sport (e.g., athletes, trainers, coaches).

Strengths-based chances: How altruism becomes a tool for rehumanisation in sport with Charlie Jones
In this episode, I vibe with our altruistic viber, Charlie Jones. My big brother was born and raised in Katy, Texas. Graduated from the University of Houston where he also played Basketball (Division 1). He has been a teacher and coach for 17 years. Of those 17 years, he has been a head coach for 10. Fella is currently the head basketball coach at Katy Jordan high School. In 10 years, he has won 2 district titles, been to three regional tournaments, and been to one state championship. Fella has been married for 14 years to his wife and my sis n love DeeDee Jones who is also a teacher and a coach. They have 2 children, Charlie and Jaia.
Charlie offers us insight on how to navigate life and basketball. Specifically, utilising strengths-based strategies to give his family and players as a chance to rehumanise authentically. This is by challenging the normative script that becomes a barrier to young player’s progression in sports i.e., parents pressuring and at times disempowering them and coaches.
Please tune in and vibe with us on coaching, parenting, and rehumanisation in sport.
